The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers, and to give survivors long, healthy lives. St. Baldrick’s holds over 12,000 events and fundraisers with over 574,000 participants. The Shamrock Brewing Company is proud to be among them. St. Baldrick’s began as a head-shaving event, and that is still the signature of the Foundation. Volunteers ask friends and family to make donations and in return, they attend one of thousands of volunteer-organized events around the world where they have their heads shaved in solidarity with kids fighting cancer.
Shamrock Brewing Company has been home to a St. Baldrick’s event every year since 2007, which, frankly, is the easy part. Pueblo has had many great teams that have raised tens of thousands of dollars in the past with 2-3 events annually. On March 12, 2016, Pueblo First Responders & Friends held their fundraiser at Shamrock Brewing Company and raised over $28,500. It takes a lot of hard work to raise this amount of money, not to mention the dramatic new look the volunteers leave with, but it is well worth it for such a worthy cause. If you stopped in to the Shamrock around St Patrick’s Day you probably noticed many of the volunteers – it’s kind of hard to miss their freshly shaved heads. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event a great success.
We have not set the date for 2017 yet but we try to schedule the event the weekend before St Patrick’s Day. Everyone knows the Shamrock is the place to be to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but we ask you to check back in 2017 and make a plan to stop by for the St. Baldrick’s event and help Pueblo First Responders end childhood cancer!
